Instructions
Directions- Analyze diagrams and calculate net force.
Why do I need to know this? It's important to understand that when the net force on an object is 0, it will not change its motion. If the net force is anything besides zero, there will be a change in motion (it will accelerate).
Example-
Notes-
Net force: the sum of all the forces acting on an object; when this is zero, the object will NOT
accelerate (change motion)
Balanced forces: when the forces cancel each other out, the object will not change it's motion
Newton: unit of measurement for force
Accelerate: a change in motion caused by an unbalanced force acting on an object
Tips - When the forces are in the same direction, add them together. When the forces are acting in opposite directions, subtract them.
