Message to Students

Welcome to Durham Public Schools Online Driver Education Class for April 2024. To pass this class, you must have 30 hours of online instruction with an 80 average or above and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel driving practice with an instructor. You are required to attend the class for 2 hours each day for 15 days. Assignments will not be available after the scheduled class times so plan accordingly. Because this is an online class, all assignments will be submitted online in Canvas.

Being part of the Graduated Licensing Program means that you are between the ages of 14 1/2 and 17 years 364 days. If you turn 18 before you drive in the car with the Driver's Ed instructor, you must get your permit from DMV, then if you choose, we can drive with you so you can get some experience.

  • Classroom Attendance: You cannot miss any days of class and you are required to be online daily for two hours for the 15 days that your class is scheduled.  In the last week of class, your final exam will be on the last day of class.
  • Expectations: Students are required to participate in classroom discussions, proper classroom etiquette is expected out of all students, and there will not be any profanity, bullying, or making fun of other students. The consequence is dismissal from the class. Students are also required to have their cameras on, with their faces visible during classroom hours. Failure to have your camera on will result in removal from the class.
